For any city or town that has a municipal judge that has not taken the required twelve (12) hours of training conducted by OMJA by July 1, 2026 for the municipal judge certification program, the maximum fine that may be imposed by the municipal court in all traffic and criminal cases shall not exceed Fifty Dollars ($50.00) and the court shall not order the defendant imprisoned except for the nonpayment of fines or costs or both under the statue 11 O.S. § 27-104.

If a municipal judge needs to take the required training before the deadline or if you believe your judge has taken the required training and is not listed in the official list below for the certification credit, email the OMJA liaison Jenny Morris at Jenny@oml.org.

Any person appointed as a municipal judge after July 1, 2026, shall have one (1) year from the date of appointment to complete the certification program.

Upon completion of the training conducted by the Oklahoma Municipal Judges Association, the municipal judge will receive a certification of training certificate. A copy of the Certification shall be filed with the county clerk in the county in which the municipality is located and with the municipal court clerk.
