MAYORS HELPING MAYORS
***TIPS TO SPUR ECONOMIC GROWTH***
As a service to Oklahoma mayors, the Mayors Council of Oklahoma is pleased to announce the formation of a brand-new group, the Mayors Council on Economic Development (MCED). MCED was first proposed to the mayors in attendance at the MCO Retreat in Broken Arrow this past June, by a panel of four Oklahoma mayors, all with proven success stories and ideas to share about promoting economic development in their communities.
MCED is a mayors-only, working group, where you can share ideas, brainstorm, and hear from a variety of experts from the business and retail community, government agency representatives, and your fellow mayors from communities of all sizes, who have “been there and done that.” Our common goal is to improve our cities and towns, as well as all of Oklahoma by studying all phases of economic development enhancement. Through this cooperative effort, you can learn innovative ways to help you to be more effective ambassadors of your city, in order to attract retailers and business opportunities, while maintaining and improving relationships with existing vendors.
The first meeting of the MCED has been scheduled for Tuesday, August 16th, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. and will be held at the OML offices. The program will feature an organizational meeting, followed by one or two presentations on selected topics of interest, with plenty of time allotted for open discussion and sharing of ideas. Lunch will be served.
Below, please find a list of preliminary topics that will discussed. We will build upon them as MCED continues to meet. Feel free to send us your ideas for topics that you would like to see covered.
