THE CITY OF OKLAHOMA CITY IS CURRENTLY ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS for an Assistant Municipal Counselor I. This is a special assignment position embedded in the United States Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Oklahoma for the purpose of federally prosecuting gun related violent crimes occurring within the corporate limits of The City of Oklahoma City. This position falls within the Criminal Justice Division of the Office of the Municipal Counselor and reports to the Criminal Justice Division Head. This position may be funded by public safety sales tax revenue or grant funds awarded to the Oklahoma City Police Department. If this position becomes grant funded, the parameters of the prosecutorial focus will be adjusted to meet grant requirements. The goal of The City of Oklahoma City through this project is to make our community safer for victims of domestic violence by interrupting the escalation of violence through enforcement of appropriate firearms laws. This position will serve in a direct liaison role between the Oklahoma City Police Department and the U.S. Attorney’s Office, evaluating cases involving firearms for potential federal prosecution, and preparing and presenting firearms cases for federal prosecution.
