The City of Midwest City is accepting applications for the position of Part-Time Holiday Lights Attendant in the Communications & Marketing Department.

What You’ll Do
In this role, under the general supervision of the Events Specialist, you will monitor Holiday Lights Spectacular operations, open and close the lights nightly, meet greeters and collectors, train volunteers. You will deposit nightly donations to the police department with police escort. You will notify Public Works staff when electrical maintenance is needed for the lights.

Primary responsibilities include:
•Opens gates nightly by 6:00 p.m.
•Makes sure the lights come on at the proper time.
•Checks light displays.
•Notifies Public Works staff for all electrical work i.e. flip breakers, plug in displays.
•Gives all volunteers general instructions.
•Informs Events Specialist if volunteers do not show.
•Collects donations if necessary.
•Responsible for solving operational issues.
•Routinely drives through lights to ensure they are working properly.
•Deposits nightly donations in the Police Department with police escort.
•Reports any problems to Events Specialist or Communications & Marketing staff.
•Setup and take down sound systems as needed.
•Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must have:
✓ Knowledge of simple electrical procedures.
✓ Ability to make decisions using good judgment.
✓ Knowledge of good safety policies, practices and procedures.
✓ Ability to communicate effectively.
✓ Ability to explain procedures to volunteers.
✓ Ability to relate to the public using tact and diplomacy.

Preferred Qualifications
•High school graduate or equivalent preferred

•Employee will routinely be working outside in all kinds of weather. 
•The employee is required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. 
•Must be able to set up and take down sound system unassisted. 
•Must be able to work in cold weather. 
•Must be able to lift and bend.
•Must be able to operate a cell phone in a clear, concise manner.
•May be required to operate a golf cart (must be 18 years old and insurable to operate a golf cart).
