General Definition:
This is a mid-level supervisory position directing activities of a staff of employees engaged in the operations and improvement of the Chickasha Sports Complex. This position is supervised by the Parks Director and exercises supervision of the sports complex staff.
The Sports Complex Manager is responsible for developing and scheduling tournaments and event activities at the Sports Complex. This position is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and operations of the 130-acre facility that includes a total of 16 baseball and softball fields, 11 soccer fields, and 3 football fields. The position will also coordinate facility logistics with tournament and league directors to ensure high-quality experiences for participants, organizers, and spectators. This position would require some evenings, and many weekends throughout the tournament season. This position will supervise up to 4 full-time employees. This is a full-time, non-exempt position with full benefits.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:

1.Oversee the management, operations, and maintenance of playing fields, support facilities, turf and irrigation, sports field and area lighting, parking area grounds, signage, security system, materials, and equipment.
2.Serve as the primary point of contact for event organizers before, during, and after tournaments.
3.Develop annual event calendars in coordination with local leagues and regional tournament circuits.
4.Oversee event logistics including field preparation, staffing, concessions coordination, and scheduling.
5.Work with the Marketing Manager to create marketing materials and work with tourism, hotel, and business stakeholders to promote events.
6.Maintain strong working relationships with local sports associations, vendors, and community partners.
7.Assists in the planning, preparation, and oversight of the annual budget for the assigned complex. Prepares revenue and expense records for all sports programs, including tournaments, league play, and sponsorships.
8.Assigns work, trains, provides direction, monitors the performance of assigned personnel, and recommends the hiring, disciplining, and termination of subordinates.
9.Work weekends and evenings as needed during events.
10.This position will assist in events and maintenance at other parks facilities in the off-season.
11.All other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1.Associate degree in Sports Management, Recreation, Business Administration, or related field (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
2.Minimum of 3 years in sports facility management, tournament coordination, or event planning including 1 year in a supervisory or lead position.
3.Strong communication and organizational skills.
4.Knowledge of amateur and youth sports tournament operations.
5.Ability to multitask and handle time-sensitive logistics.
6.Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with scheduling/event software preferred.
7.Must possess a valid Oklahoma driver’s license.
8.Must be able to work outdoors and lift up to 40 lbs.
9.Availability to work evenings and weekends during events.
10.Ability to set a positive example and maintain a position of very high integrity;
11.Ability and willingness to assume responsibility for work performed by self and others;
12.Skill in accurately recording and organizing information;
13.Ability to solve problems independently take initiative and show good judgment;
14.Must possess and maintain a valid Oklahoma vehicle operator’s license, and be insurable;
15.Must pass a work-related pre-employment physical examination and drug test;
16.Ability to obtain the appropriate certification from the State Department of Agriculture for the purchasing and application of herbicides.
Preferred Qualifications:
1.Experience working in a municipal or public recreation setting.
2.Established network within youth/amateur sports tournament circles.
3.Familiarity with Oklahoma and regional sports tourism trends.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1.Some exposure to unpleasant citizens must be able to handle tactfully;
2.Subject to abnormal daily stress;
3.Some duties are performed indoors, subject to sitting, standing, climbing and descending stairs, walking, or using a telephone for extended periods of time;
4.Most work is performed outdoors exposed to heat, cold, humidity, snow, rain, and various weather conditions;
5.While on a job site, may be exposed to injury from moving equipment, insect bites, poisonous plants, flying objects, slippery surfaces, hazardous materials, and traffic;
6.Must have the strength to pull, lift, and push 50-pound objects on a frequent basis and up to 100 pounds (like a bag of cement) on an infrequent basis;
7.Physical strength and agility sufficient to perform routine or heavy manual tasks, when necessary;
8.Must have flexibility to bend, twist, reach; mobility to climb, crawl, walk; dexterity to operate machinery and tools on uneven surfaces, etc.; and stamina to exert oneself throughout the day in all weather conditions;
9.Must have skill in foot/hand/eye coordination to use miscellaneous office equipment, hand and power tools, machinery, operate vehicle, etc., as required;
10.Must be willing to perform some duties described in this job description under adverse weather conditions, including extreme heat and inclement weather;
11.Must be mentally and physically prepared for unforeseen emergencies at all times;
12.Must be able to work weekends through tournament season;
13.Vision required to conduct site visits, inspect work, to read and review written correspondence, reports, statistical and technical information, maps, etc.;
14.Hearing and speech required to communicate clearly and distinctly in English, by telephone and in person, within the confinement of a semi-noisy environment;
15.High degree of concentration is required to fulfill essential job duties.
This role involves a mix of office-based planning and on-site event coordination at the sports complex. The work environment will include regularly working outside in all weather conditions, working near moving mechanical parts and some exposure to vibration and moderate noise. Weekend and evening work is routine during peak sports seasons.
This classification is a “safety sensitive” position as defined by the United States Department of Transportation drug and alcohol testing regulations, the Oklahoma Standards for Workplace Drug and Alcohol Testing Act and/or Oklahoma Medical Marijuana laws. As a “safety sensitive” classification, you will be subject to drug and alcohol testing, including random testing. Marijuana is one of the substances included in the drug panel screening. Possession of a medical marijuana license will not excuse you from the testing process, or the consequences of testing positive for marijuana.
