ABOUT THIS POSITION: The Utility Line Locator identifies, locates, and accurately marks the location of City of Edmond utilities. They'll primarily locate and mark existing city-owned underground, fiber, electric primary, secondary, and service lines. 

Must be able to work in all types of terrain and weather conditions. Some callback duties required. his is a Safety Sensitive Position.

QUALIFICATIONS: 
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- 6 months of related experience and/or training (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Valid Oklahoma Driver's License and a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier

RESPONSIBILITIES: 
- Organize daily locate assignments into an effective route
- Interpret signals/output from equipment to locate underground electric lines
- Prepare various reports, forms, and records
- Read and understand utility maps, prints, and aerial imagery
- Mark the location of underground electric lines
- Conduct research and analyze data regarding:
- excavation locations
- construction prints
- plat pages
- plans
- Run ground wires, place ground rods, and remove/replace marker signs
- Remove and replace manhole lids using a manhole cover removal tool

NECESSARY SKILLS: 
- Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools for locating underground utilities
- Ability to meet the required physical standards for this position
- Ability and willingness to work in all types of terrain, environments, and weather conditions
- Ability to pass extensive background process and pre-employment drug, physical, and audio screenings
