Position Summary
The Luther Police Department is seeking qualified, dedicated individual to serve as Police Officer. Officers are responsible for maintaining public safety, enforcing laws, protecting life and property, and building positive relationships within the community. This position requires the ability to respond to a wide variety of situations using sound judgment, professionalism, and adherence to Oklahoma laws and departmental policies and town policies:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
•Patrol assigned areas to deter crime and ensure public safety 
•Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls for service 
•Enforce all applicable state laws and local ordinances 
•Investigate criminal activity, accidents, and suspicious incidents 
•Conduct traffic enforcement and DUI detection 
•Make lawful arrests and issue citations when appropriate 
•Prepare detailed, accurate reports and documentation 
•Collect, preserve, and process evidence 
•Serve warrants, subpoenas, and civil papers 
•Provide testimony in municipal, district, and federal court 
•Assist injured people and provide basic first aid when needed 
•Participate in community policing efforts and public outreach 
•Work cooperatively with other law enforcement and emergency agencies 
•Operate patrol vehicles, communications systems, and other law enforcement equipment safely

Minimum Qualifications
•Must be at least 21 years of age 
•Must be a U.S. citizen 
•High school diploma or GED required (CLEET certification preferred)
•Must possess a valid Oklahoma driver’s license 
•Must have no felony convictions or disqualifying criminal history 
•Must meet all requirements set by the Oklahoma Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training (CLEET) 
•Must be able to pass: 
oBackground investigation 
oPhysical fitness assessment (as required) 
oDrug screening 
oPsychological evaluation

Preferred Qualifications
•Current CLEET certification (full-time or reserve) 
•Prior law enforcement or military experience 
•Strong communication and problem-solving skills 
•Knowledge of Oklahoma criminal and traffic laws

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
•Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and ordinances 
•Ability to exercise sound judgment in high-stress situations 
•Strong report writing and documentation skills 
•Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations 
•Skill in conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques 
•Ability to operate law enforcement tools and technology

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
•Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays 
•Exposure to hazardous and high-risk situations 
•Ability to lift, carry, and restrain individuals when necessary 
•Must maintain physical readiness to perform essential job functions
