The City of Bixby is currently accepting applications for the position of Cemetery Administrator within the Public Works Department. This full-time position offers a meaningful opportunity to serve the community with compassion and professionalism.
The Cemetery Administrator is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the city-owned cemetery. This includes overseeing burial record keeping, assisting families with the purchase of burial plots, processing work orders, and maintaining accurate documentation related to cemetery deeds and lot ownership. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional organizational skills, and a high level of empathy when interacting with families.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate and process burials, interments, and lot conveyances.
Maintain accurate and secure records, deeds, and lot ownership documentation.
Coordinate with funeral homes and families regarding burial services.
Handle cemetery-related work orders and ensure timely execution.
Work closely with the Cemetery Superintendent regarding cemetery operations.
Ensure compliance with all federal, local, state, and municipal regulations.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Prior administrative or records management experience required.
Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with cemetery operations is preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Self-starter with strong initiative and the ability to work independently.
Excellent organizational skills.
Education and Experience
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate’s degree or higher in Public Administration or a related field preferred.
• Experience in cemetery, municipal, or public service settings is a plus.
Schedule
This is a full-time position. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
