CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Subject to post offer, pre-employment drug screen.
Subject to a pre-employment criminal background check.
Juris Doctorate and license to practice law in the State of Oklahoma.
Member in good standing of the Oklahoma Bar Association.
POSITION PURPOSE: Ensure fair and impartial administration of justice, promote integrity within the democratic processes of the City of Enid, and maintain order and decorum in the courtroom.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
Conduct court hearings, arraignments, trials, and other proceedings in accordance with legal requirements and procedural rules.
Interpret and apply relevant laws, ordinances, and regulations to the resolution of cases presented before the court.
Hear evidence, evaluate testimony, and render decisions based on the merits of each case and the applicable legal standards.
Issue orders, judgements, and rulings in a timely manner, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and procedural deadlines.
Preside over proceedings related to traffic violations, city ordinance violations, misdemeanor offenses, and other matters within the jurisdiction of the municipal court.

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Juris Doctorate and license to practice law in the State of Oklahoma. Member in good standing of the Oklahoma Bar Association. Previous judicial experience or experience presiding over court proceedings. Previous Prosecutorial experience is preferred. Minimum five years experience practicing law. Complete continuing education as required by OMCLEC.
CERTIFICATES/LICENSES:
Additional related training preferred.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
Law and Government: Knowledge of laws and regulations, court procedures, and the democratic political process
Administration and Management: Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
Specialized: Knowledge of municipal law, criminal law, and Roberts Rules of Order.
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Ability to maintain confidentiality of records, including but not limited to private health information.
Accurate and attentive to detail.
PHYSICAL & MENTAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION
FINGER DEXTERITY:
Manual dexterity sufficient to work with the fingers.
VISUAL ABILITIES:
Normal vision, with or without corrective lenses.
PHYSICAL STRENGTH:
Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally. Sedentary physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of an administrative nature. Extensive sitting. Frequent use of arms, hands, and fingers to reach, handle, touch, and feel.
LANGUAGE/COMPREHENSION:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to respond to sensitive inquires or complaints. Ability to render impartial judgement.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to understand nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.). Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
MATHEMATICS ABILITY:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
WORK SCHEDULE/HOURS:
Part time variable, not to exceed 28 hours per week, Monday - Saturday.
WORK CONDITIONS:
Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation.
NOISE LEVEL:
Moderate.
