The City of Anadarko, a welcoming rural community of approximately 6,000 residents, is seeking an experienced and visionary City Manager to lead our organization through a period of growth and opportunity. We are a close-knit community known for our quality of life, strong sense of place, and desire to preserve our character while fostering sustainable economic and residential development.
About the Role:
Appointed by and reporting to the Mayor and City Council, the City Manager serves as the chief administrative officer of the City, overseeing all departments and daily operations. The City Manager is responsible for implementing Council policy, managing municipal services efficiently, and serving as a trusted advisor and liaison between elected officials, staff, and the community.
The next City Manager will play a key role in helping Anadarko attract new businesses, expand housing opportunities for all income levels, and manage growth in a way that strengthens the community’s rural identity and economic vitality.

Key Responsibilities:
•Provide professional leadership and administration of all city operations, programs, and services.
•Work closely with the City Council to develop and execute strategic goals and policies.
•Lead efforts to attract and retain businesses, support workforce development, and promote a thriving local economy.
•Collaborate with regional and state partners to address rural housing challenges and expand attainable housing options.
•Guide growth management initiatives, including land use planning, infrastructure development, and sustainable practices.
•Prepare and manage the city budget to ensure fiscal health and accountability.
•Foster an organizational culture of professionalism, integrity, and responsiveness.

Ideal Candidate:
The successful candidate will have:
•A bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business, Planning, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
•At least 3–5 years of progressively responsible municipal or public-sector management experience, preferably in a small city or rural setting.
•Proven experience in economic development, housing policy, and growth management.
•Outstanding communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
•A collaborative, transparent, and community-oriented approach to governance.
