The Municipal Electric Systems of Oklahoma (MESO) and the Oklahoma Municipal Utility Services Association (OMUSA) support Oklahoma’s public power and utility systems through advocacy, education, training, and service. Together, we serve our members with a focus on community-driven excellence, safety, and reliability.

Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of Job Training & Safety (JT&S) to lead and deliver comprehensive safety and training programs for MESO/OMUSA member utilities. This position plays a critical role in enhancing worker safety, maintaining compliance with APPA and OSHA standards, and developing the skills of electric distribution Lineworkers across Oklahoma.

Key Responsibilities:

·       Develop and deliver safety programs aligned with APPA Safety Manual and OSHA standards.

·       Conduct in-field training sessions for electric distribution personnel.

·       Create and manage classroom instruction, hands-on training, and safety meetings for electric distribution and public works departments.

·       Provide ongoing safety assessments, audits, and consultations for member utilities.

·       Stay current on regulations, best practices, and industry standards.

·       Coordinate topic-specific training events to address evolving member needs.

·       Oversee the annual Lineworkers Rodeo.

·       Promote a culture of safety, learning, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

·       Certified Journeyman Lineworker (electric distribution systems).

·       Minimum 15 years of experience in electric distribution line work and/or supervision.

·       Extensive experience in both overhead and underground municipal electric systems.

·       Strong classroom and hands-on teaching skills.

·       Excellent communication and computer proficiency.

·       Ability to travel within the state for training sessions.
