Business Manager - Alva
The City of Alva is seeking a knowledgeable leader for the position of City Business Manager.
Located in Northwest Oklahoma near the Oklahoma/Kansas border, Alva is the county seat of Woods County and has approximately 5,000 residents. Alva is steeped in frontier history and is a forward-thinking community that has built a location for business that is second to none. Alva is home to Northwestern Oklahoma State University and Northwest Technology Center.
The City of Alva is seeking a City Business Manager who has a proven track record of success in leadership positions and is experienced with personnel management and development. A candidate who has experience with rural communities and working with unions is preferred.
The next City Business Manager will possess strong interpersonal communication skills, demonstrate a willingness to listen to others, and provide accurate, timely information to the Council on a consistent basis. The City Business Manager will have a focus on strong employee morale and will be a consensus builder.
This position reports to the City Council and is responsible for the administration and daily management of the municipal government including, but not limited to, the supervision and direction of the department directors and other staff.
Education & Qualifications
Top qualifying candidates will possess a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent years of experience in a related field. A candidate with an expertise in finance, accounting, and economic development is preferred. The successful candidate must have project management skills and have a thorough understanding of state and federal grant processes.
