Chief of Police - Barnsdall

The City of Barnsdall, OK, is taking applications for the position of Chief of Police.

The City requires 6-8 years of municipal law enforcement with a preference for 3-4 years of department head experience. The ability to communicate effectively with the public and establish a good rapport with surrounding cities, county, State, federal and tribal agencies is critical. Applicants must be able to work flexible hours as needed and be familiar with planning and operating within a departmental budget.

Applicant must possess a current CLEET certification as a full-time officer for the State of Oklahoma, including up to date CEU's. Prospective candidates must have an Oklahoma CLEET ce1iification for Police Chief or the ability to successfully complete ce1iification training within the period mandated by the State.

Strong leadership capabilities, with emphasis on training officers. Applicants should possess a practical working knowledge of Word and Excel. Good record-keeping and documenting skills are a must.

Job duties include:

Conducting investigations, creating, and submitting reports. Prioritizing trammg officers, including interactions with the public while answering calls, documenting calls, completion and submission of investigative reports, and ticket issuances. Maintaining depaiiment body cams and videos. Preparing repo1is on depaiiment activities and statistics to present at monthly City Council meetings.

Reviewing and approving all reports prior to submission to the DA, with timely and accurate submission of repmis required by State and Federal agencies. Ensuring that repmis sent by the State are reviewed and corrected as needed before returning.

Recruiting qualified candidates to fill openings within the department. Conducting CLEET ce1iification and background checks for potential hires, as well as periodic verification with CLEET for current staff ce1tifications.

Scheduling officer work shifts and verifying hours with timecard before submitting to payroll.
