Full Time Public Works License and Permit Clerk
(starting at $23.59-$26.16 per hour with benefits)

SUMMARY
This is a non-exempt clerical position located in the Public Works department, under the general supervision of the Deputy Public Works Director. This position includes answering and directing phone calls, communicates with customers and employees to relay important information, prepares licenses and permits, maintains records, and assists with Board and Commission meeting materials.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Answers and directs incoming calls.

Orders office supplies as needed.

Prepare service orders as needed.

Review City Code and stay current with new ordinances and policies pertaining to licensing, permits, building code, and utility services.

Prepare permits as requested by Contractors.

Maintains files on all building permits.

Skill in handling difficult situations calmly and professionally.

Organizing, compiling, and recording data.

All other duties as required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Working environment is primarily in an office setting; requires the use of a telephone and other office equipment.

Physical requirements include arm and hand steadiness and finger dexterity enough to use office equipment; subject to sitting, standing, bending, reaching, and walking; and vision, speech, and hearing sufficient to perform the essential tasks.
