The Oklahoma Municipal League (OML) will present its annual Practical Guide Workshop to municipal staff on Friday, March 8 at the Rose State College Community Learning Center in Midwest City.
The topics, which were developed based on information inquiries at OML, will focus on common areas of concern and interest to municipal staffs, as well as the best practices for each. The topics include:
Easements and Right-of-Way
Understanding Your Role as an Elected Official
Open Meetings/Record Act
Cheryl Adams, Programs Manager, said that the goal of the workshop is to provide updates and information on hot topics our members deal with on a regular basis. Adams said that OML knows it is important to present educational workshops to our members that will be of assistance to them as they interact with the public in their everyday work experience.
“Our topics feature the latest information presented by professionals in each field of expertise. This workshop, along with the others we present, are a great way for municipal leaders to gain valuable knowledge and network with peers from across the state,” Adams said.
Kelly Danner, OML’s Inquiry & Special programs Director, said the practical guide workshop covers topics that are critical to municipalities following state and federal law. She added that it is imperative that municipal staff understand what they can and cannot do.
