Job title:  Utility Maintenance Superintendent 

There is a full-time position open for a Utility Maintenance Superintendent in the Utility Maintenance Department.

CLASSIFICATION:  123-1 TO 123-40

PAY RANGE:  $40,966 TO $60,389 annually (based on experience)

FLSA:  Exempt

POSITION DESCRIPTION

 TITLE:  UTILITY MAINTENANCE SUPERINTENDENT

DUTIES

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The essential function of the position within the organization is to lead the activities of utility maintenance within the City of McAlester.

PRIMARY DUTIES: This list represents the essential tasks performed by the position.  Employees may be assigned additional duties by management as required.

Supervises and schedules work of Utility Maintenance workers.

Prepare work orders to include job location and instructions.

Troubleshoot utilities for repair or replacement.

Shall meet and talk with citizens regarding questions or complaints.

Shall meet with outside vendors and contractors.

Shall answer emergency calls 24/7 regarding water line breaks or sewer problems.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS  

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: “Education Requirements” refers to job specific training and education required for entry into the position.

Requires education or training equivalent to an associate’s degree.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED: “Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations” refers to professional, state, or federal licenses, certifications, or registrations required to enter the position.

Requires Oklahoma B Water and Sewer operator’s licenses or Oklahoma Class C Water and Sewer operator’s licenses that can be upgraded to class B within one (1) year of employment with the City.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: “Experience Requirements” refers to the amount of work experience that is required for entry into the position that would result in reasonable expectation that the person can perform the tasks required by the position.

Requires four years of related experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: “Physical Demands” refers to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.

Requires sedentary work involving standing or walking for brief periods, exerting up to 50 pounds of force on a regular basis; and some dexterity in operating machines, tools, or office equipment.

UNAVOIDABLE HAZARDS: “Unavoidable Hazards” refers to unusual conditions in the work environment that may cause illness or injury.

The position is exposed to no unusual environmental hazards. May sometimes be exposed to extreme heat/cold, wet or humid conditions, bright/dim lights, dust or pollen, and traffic.

SENSORY (ADA) REQUIREMENTS: “Sensory Requirements” refers to hearing, sight, touch, taste, and smell necessary to perform the tasks required by the position efficiently.

The position may require normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing, speaking, color perception, sense of taste, sense of smell, depth perception, or texture perception.
