Ideally located in northeast Kansas, Johnson County is the growth engine of the Kansas City metropolitan area. The County has a population of 600,000 and boasts nationally ranked schools, a low crime rate, high quality neighborhoods, a low cost of living, and a variety of cultural, entertainment, and recreational opportunities. The legislative powers of Johnson County are vested in a seven-member Board of County Commissioners, which exercises its authority to ensure the general health, safety, and welfare of the public. 

The Department of Technology and Innovation provides information management and technology services for Johnson County, maintains technological infrastructures, and identifies, analyzes, supervises, and coordinates e-government initiatives and programs. Johnson County is seeking a visionary and passionate Chief Information Officer (CIO) to provide strategic leadership and innovation for the organization’s information technology policies, programming, and infrastructure. 

The selected candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree in computer science, business administration, or a closely related field of study and must have 15 or more years of applicable work experience. A master’s degree in computer science, business administration, public administration, or closely related field of study and experience working in the public sector are preferred qualifications. The salary range for this position is $126,568 – $189,853, depending on experience and qualifications.
