Electric Department Superintendent - Fairview

The City of Fairview is currently taking applications for the position of Full time Electric Department Superintendent. This position is a skilled position in the construction, maintenance and repair of electrical overhead/underground distribution system. This position works in various locations and may require basic substation training and knowledge.


  • Applicant shall have a minimum of 5 years experience.

  • Applicant should have experience at operating heavy equipment including but not limited to bucket trucks, digger trucks, backhoe, trencher, skid steer, and other necessary equipment required to complete job related tasks.

  • Applicant must have a valid Oklahoma Drivers License and prefer a minimum of a Class "A" Commercial Drivers License (CDL).

  • Able to climb wooden and steel poles, work in heights and/or confined spaces, and be able to perform vigorous physical labor.

  • Work safely to perform all duties requiring skills to protect the lives of themselves and others.

  • Applicant must be able to effectively conduct and/or understand job safety training and Job briefings.

  • Applicant shall be able to follow oral and written instructions and perform all related work as required by supervisor(s) to complete the job tasks.

  • Applicant must be able to frequently work outside in inclement weather.


  • Applicant must be able to perform all duties in a safe and timely manner.

  • Install overhead und underground wire, set poles and anchors.

  • Install transformers, lightening arrestors, cutouts, cross arms, insulators, switches, and switch gear.

  • Identify and troubles shoot primary and secondary circuit systems and work with energized high voltage systems.

  • Install, replace, and maintain cutout fuses and clear faulted circuits.

  • Identify and be familiar with induced voltage, understand grounding procedures and techniques.

  • Installation and the use of phasing sticks.

  • Understand how to obtain one shot on re-closure.

  • Installation and removal of all PPE safety devises including cover-up blankets and rubber gloves.

  • Duties shall include maintain vehicles, equipment, and tools in a good working condition.
