Scenic West Lake Hills, Texas, is located only six miles west of downtown Austin on the edge of the picturesque Texas Hill Country. It is home to 3,318 residents and stretches four square miles along Bee Cave Road and Redbud Trail, in Travis County. West Lake Hills is a unique, close-knit community where citizens and elected officials are dedicated to preserving the pastoral hill country environment and maintaining the natural beauty of the area.

West Lake Hills is a Type A general law municipality. The City Council is comprised of the Mayor and five City Council Members, elected at-large and serving two-year terms with no term limits. The City Council appoints a professional City Administrator to implement policies and manage the day-to-day operation of the City. The City Administrator directs all City employees except the Chief of Police and subordinate Police Department personnel. The City has 31 employees (28 full-time and 4 part-time), delivering a wide range of municipal services funded by an FY 2019-2020 budget of $7,600,000.

The City Council seeks a fiscally responsible City Administrator with a sound business acumen and “Lean” orientation who possesses a broad knowledge of municipal finance and advanced budget skills. A bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, or a related field from an accredited college or university is required. A master’s degree is preferred. At least seven years of progressively responsible municipal government operations experience, including three or more years of experience as a city manager or assistant city manager, is required. Successful planning and development services experience is preferred, as is experience serving diverse, progressive metro area communities with high customer service expectations. The starting salary range for this position is $145,000 to $165,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
