The Town of Wellston is currently accepting applications for a full-time Chief of Police. 
A successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of complex administrative, supervisory and professional work in planning, coordinating, directing and supervising the activities of the Wellston Police Department. Protects life and property and maintains the peace, welfare and safety of all within the jurisdiction. Provide law enforcement service to the Town of Wellston as defined by the Towns ordinances and State law. Aids in the prevention of crimes, breaches of peace and order or any other offense. 
Works with the Town Administrator in achieving community goals, preparation of and repeal of municipal ordinances related to the enforcement of municipal law and in preparing and adhering to the annual departmental budget. Work with and mentors the departments staff to create a cohesive team that is focused on proactive community policing and community relations. 
Minimum requirements include; High School diploma or GED, 5 years law enforcement experience, 2 years supervisory experience, ability to pass an extensive background check, physical, drug testing and maintain a valid driver’s license. Ability to climb, crouch, work in areas that are close and crowded, perform keyboarding, lift up to and over 100 pounds, push/pull up to 100 pounds, be exposed to infectious agents, chemical agents, extreme temperature and/or humidity, power equipment and heights. Must be able to run and exhibit endurance during physical altercation or apprehension. Must live within a 30 minute response time to the jurisdiction, or be willing to relocate within a reasonable amount of time.

Candidates who meet the minimum requirements of the position will be notified and scheduled for board interviews. The successful candidates will have a final interview before the Wellston Town Board of Trustees and a candidate will be selected and appointed on February 14th, 2019 at the regular meeting of the Board of Trustees.
