TULSA – The City of Harrah received a 2009 Municipal Innovations Award for its “Birth of Community Cultural Venue – Heritage Park, The Amp at the Park” project during today’s Oklahoma Municipal League Annual Awards Breakfast.
Under the project, the city’s Heritage Park was further developed to add an amphitheater to provide a stage for arts and culture events. These additional improvements to what was once simply a wasteland have allowed the park to become a place where people of all ages, youth, adults, families with children and seniors can enjoy a great time of sharing community events.
The League established this award as a means of highlighting the many innovative programs cities and towns implement. It recognizes the top innovative programs from throughout the state. An Innovation Award was also presented to the City of Ponca City.

OML is a statewide, non-profit corporation currently composed of 471 member cities and towns. The League serves as a spokesperson for municipalities at state and federal government levels to achieve local objectives. By working together through the League, municipal officials formulate programs and unite in concerted action benefiting their communities.
