Located just 30 miles from downtown Dallas, Little Elm is ideally situated along the shores of Lake Lewisville in one of the fastest growing areas in the United States. Known as “The Town with a Lake Attitude,” Little Elm boasts an extremely high quality of life, is home to nearly 40,000 residents, and draws thousands of visitors to the community to experience the Town’s Lakefront District, festivals and events, and recreational opportunities. Little Elm is a home rule municipality operating under a council-manager form of government. The Little Elm Council, comprised of a Mayor and six Town Council members, appoints a professional Town Manager who serves as the chief executive officer for the organization and implements the policies of the Town Council and the priorities of the Council’s strategic plan. 

The Town seeks a Development Services Director who is a strong leader with proven experience developing partnerships, negotiating deals, working with community groups, working with special districts, and identifying projects that will further the growth and aesthetic appeal of the Town of Little Elm. Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, architecture, urban planning, engineering, or related fields is required, as well as five years of progressively responsible experience in a relevant field. A Master’s degree and AICP certification are preferred. Specific and substantial experience, in addition to the five years required which prepares one to perform these job duties, will be considered for the required education. Also required are five years of increasingly responsible professional experience in planning and at least three years supervisory experience, one year of which must have included management responsibility for a major planning function (e.g., general plan development, redevelopment, zoning, etc.). The salary range for this position is expected to be $115,000 and $130,000, depending on relevant qualifications and experience.
